Scholarships

2, 3 and 4 year scholarships

We encourage high school seniors to apply for the 4 Year Army ROTC National Scholarship at the start of their senior year. Please see our Resources page for more information. Newly enrolled Army ROTC cadets may also compete for campus based 2 and 3 year scholarships. These scholarships may be applied:

  • to a cadet's tuition and fees or,
  • to a cadet's room and board.
  • These scholarships may be utilized with other forms of financial aid.
  • Additionally, scholarship cadets receive $600 per semester for books and supplies in addition to their monthly stipend (based on cadet's Military Science Level).
Guaranteed Reserves Forces Duty (GRFD)
The GRFD program is designed for cadets who are interested in obtaining a commission in the U.S. Army Reserves (USAR) or Army National Guard (ARNG) with a guarantee for a Reserve Component (RC) assignment. Scholarships cover full tuition and mandatory fees or room and board up to $10,000. Scholarship awardees also receive a book allowance and a monthly stipend based on their academic year. GRFD Cadets also receive weekend drill and annual training pay as participants in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) which means they will attend drill one weekend per month and a two week annual training with a RC unit.
Minute Man Scholarship

This scholarship offers 2, 3 or 4 year scholarships for qualified applicants. However, this is a dedicated reserve scholarship in the USAR or ARNG. This means the cadet will not be able to compete for active duty.

  • Receive full tuition and fees (uncapped) or room and board (capped at $10,000 per year)
  • Receive Cadet Monthly Stipend of $420 a month
  • Annual $1,200 book stipend ($600 per semester)
  • Receive Monthly E5/Cadet Drill Pay thru Army ROTC Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP).
Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)

You may be able to take advantage of a program that allows you to participate in ROTC and enlist in the ARNG or USAR at the same time, provided a vacancy exists in either a Guard or Reserve unit. It's called the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP), and it means that while you're still in college, you can be gaining valuable experience and earning extra income. In the SMP, you will be paid at the rate of at least a Sergeant E-5 for your Guard or Reserve service. In addition, you'll receive the ROTC Advanced Course allowance as well. You'll serve as an officer trainee in a Guard or Reserve unit and perform duties commensurate with the grade of second lieutenant. Once you graduate and receive your commission, you may continue your military service with a USAR or ARNG unit or go on active duty. The ROTC Contract that is agreed upon will determine a cadet status. You are considered Non-Deployable during your time as an SMP Cadet!

The intent of the SMP Program is to increase officer accessions into the RC  by increasing ROTC enrollment from enlisted RC members who are attending college.  SMP cadets are paid for their RC training and receive the ROTC allowance as well as $1200.00 per year for books. Upon completing the ROTC program, the United States Army Officer agrees to an eight-year obligation, which can be served in the Reserve Forces, on Active Duty, or a combination of the two.

  • Pay up to $4,000 tuition assistance annually
  • SMP cadets also may receive the G.I. Bill 庐, SMP Kicker and other financial benefits according to their reserve component contract
  • Contracted SMP cadets are not deployable!

All contracted Cadets receive a tax free monthly of $420 a month stipend during the school year.

快猫成版视频 donates 15 room scholarships each semester to contracted Army ROTC Cadets.

  • This scholarship pays for a traditional dorm room and cadets can stay in non-traditional dorms but will be required to pay the difference in cost.

* Note: None of the listed programs include a meal plan.

Army ROTC Events & Activities

Army ROTC Offers Many Opportunities

There is more to Army ROTC than just classroom and field training exercises. Army ROTC offers many opportunities for cadets to get to know their fellow cadets better and increase their skills in a variety of areas. Check out these events and activities below:

  • Color Guard: The Troy Army ROTC Color Guard represents the Military Science Department by carrying the American, Army and state flags during the various ceremonies including every home Trojan football game and other sporting events in conjunction with the Air Force ROTC Color Guard and community events. The Color Guard provides an activity for cadets interested in developing skills in close order drill and building self-confidence and discipline. To request a color guard for your event, contact the Army ROTC department at armyrotc@troy.edu
  • Field Training Exercise (FTX): FTXs are a one to three day training event held at Auburn University at Montgomery or at other locations such as Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning), GA or Fort Novosel (formerly Fort Rucker), AL. Events include land navigation, basic rifle marksmanship, confidence course, obstacle course, Leadership Reaction Course,  and squad tactical training.

  • Ranger Challenge: The Ranger Challenge is a great opportunity for schools to 鈥渃ompete鈥 with each other completing military tasks. This is also a great way for cadets to challenge themselves. Cadets test their Army knowledge in a written examination as well as compete in physical fitness drills and field exercises. Cadets who compete in a Ranger Challenge return to their battalion with stronger bonds and sharper skills.
Summer Camps
  • Basic Camp: is a 30-day initial entry/basic-training event which trains and educates cadets on basic military skills from individual tasks to the team and squad level and continues to build a foundation to establish the critical thinking skills necessary to become a U.S. Army Officer.

  • Advanced Camp (AC): Advanced Camp is a 31-day summer training event focused on solving complex problems at the squad and platoon-level. Cadets arrive at AC with requisite leadership attributes and competencies to confidently demonstrate leadership ability through critical thinking and problem solving capability developed during the academic year. AC builds upon on-campus training and develops the cadet's small unit leadership ability in a tactical environment.
Summer Opportunities
  • Airborne School: Airborne School is a three-week training event and its purpose is to qualify individuals in the use of the parachute as a means of combat deployment and to develop leadership, self-confidence and an aggressive spirit through mental and physical conditioning. Airborne School consists of three phases: Ground Week, Tower Week and Jump Week.

  • Air Assault School: Air Assault School qualifies soldiers to conduct airmobile and air assault helicopter operations, which include aircraft orientation, sling-load operations, proper rappelling techniques and fast-rope techniques. The school itself is 10 days of rigorous, fast paced training but focuses on training that develops intense concentration and skills with a commitment to safety and preparation. The high standards of the school require the student to take part in a 19 km (12-mile) rucksack march in under three hours on the morning of graduation to be awarded their wings.

  • CULP: Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency (CULP), provide the U.S. Army Cadet Command and subordinate units a holistic strategy for culture and foreign language that prescribes a framework for culture and foreign language education and training. Culture and Language Deployments are NOT tourist tours and its mission supports the Embassy's strategic plan for that country. Many of these missions are performed in austere conditions, which include unusual living conditions, foods and risks of common traveler's illnesses. However, during these missions, cadets receive an educational experience unmatched by anything they accomplish in college.

  • CTLT: The Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT) provides cadets the opportunity to experience leadership by serving in lieutenant-level leadership positions within active-duty units. CTLT is conducted at many Army bases nationwide or in the Federal Republic of Germany or the Republic of Korea. Cadets are assigned a unit mentor and are provided on-post lodging and meals via a dining facility. This program is exclusively designed for MS III Cadets before or after completion of their Advanced Summer Camp.
