- The M.S. (Master of Science) is the degree designation for the clinical mental health counseling program, which prepares students who hold a bachelor's degree for counseling licensure.
- The M.Ed. (Master of Education) is the degree designation for TROY's master's-level, CACREP-accredited school counselor program (also regulated by the Alabama Department of Education).
- The Ed.S. (Education Specialist) is a post-master's-level degree in either clinical counseling or school counseling, which prepares students for leadership and supervisory roles in both fields.

This program is approved by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling (ABEC) to allow you to obtain licensure with reduced practice hours. Up to 2000 can be substituted for professional experience.
